Installing 'UU Multifunctionals' on Linux

The UU Multifunctionals print queue is installed by default on all laptops and desktops managed by UU.

Do you manage your Linux computer yourself? 

Follow the steps below to install the printer on a Debian operating system.
 

Before you begin

Log in to the UU Print Portal before you start the installation. Go to the UU Print Portal .

Do you still have an old driver installed? If so, please uninstall it first.

 

Install UU Multifunctionals

1. Download UU Multifunctionals for Linux via the Print Portal. 

2. Find Print Settings on the Activities screen.

   

   Find Print Settings on the Activities screen.

3. Open Print Settings.

4. Unlock the settings to get permission to make changes.

   

   Unlock the settings.

5. Select Add.

   Enter this URL:

   https://canonprint.uu.nl/printers/UU_Multifunctionals_Linux/.printer 

   Select Forward.
    

   Please note

   Do not forget the period before printer in the URL.

   

   Enter the printer URL and select Forward.

6. Select Provide PPD file.

   Select the PPD file that you downloaded earlier.

   Select Forward.

   The name of the PPD file may be different from the name in the screenshot.

   

   Select Provide PPD file and choose the downloaded file.

7. Select the available printer options.

   Select Forward.

   The options shown in the screenshot are a suitable choice.

   

   Select the printer options and select Forward.

8. Check the printer name, description and location.

   Change these details if needed.

   Select Apply.

   

   Check the printer details and select Apply.

9. The printer has now been added.

   You can print a test page.

   

   Print a test page to check the installation.

10. Open a document.

    Select File and then Print.

    You can also press Ctrl+P.

    

    Open the print window.

11. Select UU_Multifunctionals_Linux.

    Change the print settings if needed.

    Select Print.

    

    Select UU_Multifunctionals_Linux and select Print.

12. An Authentication Request appears because your Linux computer is not connected to the University domain.

    Your computer must still be connected to the UU network.

    Enter your username in the User field.

    Enter your password in the Password field.

    Select OK.

    

    Enter your username and password and select OK.

Authentication

The login format you can use depends on your Solis account and your operating system.

Try one of the following formats:

• UU email: [e-mail]
• Long Solis: [e-mail]
• Short Solis: soliscom\Janssens101

Do you see the message Hold for Authentication? Try another login format.

You can collect your document from any Canon printer on campus.
